Verbascum thapsus is a biannual indigenous in Europe, North Africa and Asia, and was introduced in the Americas and Australia. In Holland the Great Mullein is under threat of extermination when no action is taken soon. Opinions vary quite a bit, but the Great Mullein is often mistaken for itīs close relative the Dense-flowered Mullein. Great Mullein is a plant thatīs popular with bumblebees. Because of the growing shortage of biannual plants populations of bumblebees are steadily declining in Holland. Thanks to their special jaws bumblebees can reach the nectar of the Great Mullein and bumblebees are believed to be the only insects capable of pollinating it.
I have come to regard it somewhat of a mission the incite people to spread some Great Mullein seeds on spots where thereīs a good chance they will grow to maturity. In the meanwhile my home city of Dronten is already on board and has spread Great Mullein seeds on five locations where no regular maintanance is done. On request every order over 100 euro will be accompanied by a teaspoon of GM seeds free of charge. When ordered seperately a baggie of GM seeds costs 15 euro including shipping cost. These seeds can only be shipped by registered mail. When also ordering other seeds you only pay 7,50 euro for the GM seeds as the shipping expenses are already paid.
